Christianity Clichés ~ An Overview

An Overview
I often wonder how my non-Christian friends view me.  I'm not very open about my faith, and while that's a problem, it is because I am frustrated.  I've noticed something, among Christians - myself included.  We've begun "hiding" behind slogans.  I see many of my Christian peers plastered with "JESUS SAVES!" and "God is love!" and "God has a plan for you!!!"  While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, what frustrates me is a lack of deep understanding surrounding these statements.  I feel we've become dependent upon the sayings, not the meaning, and this rubs off on the society we're trying to impact.  More and more, I find Christianity treated as "the religion for folks who need to 'believe in something.'"  We've become regarded as the people who plaster on smiles and sing songs of hopes when everything in crumbling around us, and then proclaim to the world, "God loves you all and has a plan!!"  That's why I have trouble talking about God with my friends.  I feel like everything coming out of my mouth is a cliché, easily expelled as a simple "need to believe something" to bring me hope and comfort in a harsh, meaningless world.
So, I am going to embark on a blog series.  As a blogger just getting to his feet, this should be an adventure (for the both of us, I hope).  I'm going to attempt to delve a little deeper into the slogans and sayings of Christianity that have become so cliché in our society, and explore where they came from and what they really mean.  I do not know how many parts this will be, and I might do a few posts in between parts, so stay tuned!

My Hope
I am not a theologian, I am a teenager with a blog, and not an excessively brilliant one at that.  But I am a teenager who takes tries to take the time to exist.  Because really, that's what proves it for me. Existence.  Some people believe the world was made through random chance - I do not know how they can think this and exist.  Surely they must realize the vastness of their own minds.  You can dive into your own consciousness and fall forever, though the thought is terrifying.  Knowing this, I cannot believe we are creatures of oblivion.  Surely we can only be creatures of Eternity, we are something more than these earthly bodies.  Out of our Existence stems the beautiful and ever-present evidence for Something More, a Creator, a Forever.  My hope is that I can share some of this with you through these blog post.
I want to get you to delve farther into your own Existence and find Truth there.
