About Me

A Pseudo-Brilliant Introduction
A dreamy 16-year-old prone to existential crises, insecurity, and getting lost inside his head.  Hi.
I’m a non-denominational Christian on a finite journey to infinity.  Sometimes I’m blindly afraid, acutely miserable, dripping with questions and splattered with doubts, but slowly I’m finding my way with a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.
Life is a spherical explosion of emotions, a waterfall of Questions and Answers and layers upon layers of Meaning to be uncovered, and I find this exciting in the highest degree.  This blog is bits and pieces of my thoughts, not worth much in the scope of things but as a writer, this is the best way for me to process things.  I apologize for any incoherency and general insanity I may proclaim.
I have a Purpose, I just don’t know it yet, and maybe I'll never know here on Earth.

Life and Some Interests
But enough with the pseudo-brilliance.  Basically, I’m a homeschooled teenager blogging about thoughts and reflections on God, writing, life and whatever seems interesting inside my head.  I’m a writer, a pessimistic optimist, and a Believer in Christ (as cliche as the term has become, I take it to heart).  I have a taste in all things artistic, from music to literature to theater to art.  I love authors from Shakespeare and Agatha Christie to John Green and Markus Zusak, I love musicians from Beethoven and Chopin to Sufjan Stevens and Owl City (with a bit Daft Punk thrown in there).  My favorite TV show is Doctor Who (and you will most likely see a quote or example taken from it in a post or two).

Writing and OYAN
As far as being a writer and what I like to write, I write what I want to write or feel the need to write.  This could be fantasy, or sci-fi or poetry and even historical fiction.  But perhaps my favorite thing to write are stories that reflect reality or embody some philosophical idea in some fantastic (and usually depressing, what can I say) way.  And, of course, all that I write goes to glorify, to magnify Him.
I have completed one alternative history novel (around 50,000 words, set in Ancient Rome) and am currently working on a contemporary fiction novel.  And I can’t talk about my novels without briefly mentioning OYAN.
OYAN (or, One Year Adventure Novel) is a curriculum by Daniel Schwabauer that guides you through… you guessed it! writing an adventure novel in one year.  But to me, and every student that has been touched by it, it’s not just a curriculum, it’s a community of aspiring writers to encourage and write with one-another.  I’m incredibly blessed to be part of this community, and it has helped me immensely improving my writing and even helped me grow emotionally and spiritually (like with Doctor Who, you’ll probably see it get mentioned in my posts).

A Message to You
But most of all I want to help you with this blog.  I want to encourage you and make you think, even if it is in a small way.  We are beautiful creations and being able to think and perceive and touch and taste and ask questions and receives answers is a marvelous, wonderful thing.  So thank you very much for reading!

  1. I have to admit, the phrase "a pessimistic optimist" is one of the most brilliant descriptive terms I have ever heard... cheers!
